Composed for the Australian Youth Orchestra 2014 National Music Camp.
The piece features a 4-note melodic motif, which weaves its way through a variety of instrumental colour combinations, textures and moods. The effervescent moments in this work explore the interaction of several small ensembles within the orchestra. The climax is a wild fanfare – described as ‘Nordic Triumph!’ in the score – inspired by the grand and wild forests of Scandinavia.
